Elders and Deacons

The governance of First Presbyterian Church is through the leadership of 18 elders elected and ordained for this ministry by the congregation. This group of leaders is referred to as the Session. The Pastor serves as the moderator of this governing board and other Presbyterian ministers on staff are also voting members of the Session. They meet the third Sunday evening of every month, providing oversight to every aspect of the congregation's ministry to the community as well as the world beyond.

The deacons of First Presbyterian Church provide valuable pastoral care to our growing congregation. Each one of our deacons provides pastoral oversight to a small portion of the church family. Each one of these sub-groups is referred to as a First Family and consists of about 10-15 family units. The deacon's responsibility is to build relationships with these families offering to support them in whatever way possible.
