Children's Worship
First Presbyterian Church invites children, ages 4 through 2nd grade, to our Children's Worship Center, located in Room 205. Parents escort the children to Room 205 after the "Children's Time" portion of our corporate worship in the sanctuary. The parent, who receives a pager in case of emergency, checks in the child and picks him or her up from Room 205 after the worship service.
We use Young Children and Worship, by Sonja Stewart and Jerome Berryman as the basis of the worship experience for the children. With a sensorimotor approach to storytelling, worship becomes an encounter with God. Freedom to use story figures and art materials help the children respond to God and even retell the stories to other children!
