Their hope is for a church of renewed congregations committed to being an effective witness to the good news of the Gospel and a powerful advocate for justice and mercy. First Presbyterian Church is a member of the Presbytery of the Peaks, Synod of the Mid Atlantic, which consists of 143 congregations with 21,850 members located from the Blue Ridge Mountains to Southside Virginia. The monies that we, as a church, and all other Presbyterian churches give are used in administration, missions, chaplains for the military, church growth, disaster relief, theology, worship, education and many other areas. |
