Sunday Worship Services
First Presbyterian Church offers a traditional service of worship (10:30 a.m.) where the proclamation of the Word is central. In worship we seek to lift high the name of Jesus, to attend to the call of Christ upon our lives through our service and to respond in faith to the challenges of contemporary Christian living. Our music is a rich blend of the hymns that have sustained the church in ages past as well as the music that inspires the heart of today's Christian. We believe that worship is not something we observe but an action that we take in response to the gift of God's grace. We celebrate the Lord's Supper periodically throughout the year, usually on the first Sunday of each liturgical season. All who have been baptized into the faith of Jesus Christ are welcomed to the Lord's Table.
Throughout the warmer months many of our members linger on the lawn following worship to enjoy a glass of lemonade. It's a wonderful time to meet and greet the guests in our midst.
Our worship service is carried in a weekly radio broadcast on 910 AM, WWWR, at 10:00 Sunday mornings.
Nursery First Presbyterian Church offers childcare for babies, birth through twenty-four months, and for toddlers, twenty-four to thirty-six months of age. Paid staff members and volunteers provide the children with a safe and loving environment while parents are in Sunday School, worship, Bible Study, and special events. Parents are encouraged to volunteer for nursery duty four times per year and are welcome at any time in our nursery. A Check-In/Check-Out paging and tag system is used to keep children safe.
Each room is brightly decorated and well-appointed with age appropriate equipment and toys.
Children's Worship First Presbyterian Church invites children, ages 4 through 2nd grade, to our Children's Worship Center, located in Room 205. Parents escort the children to Room 205 after the "Children's Time" portion of our corporate worship in the sanctuary. The parent, who receives a pager in case of emergency, checks in the child and picks him or her up from Room 205 after the worship service.
We use Young Children and Worship, by Sonja Stewart and Jerome Berryman as the basis of the worship experience for the children. With a sensorimotor approach to storytelling, worship becomes an encounter with God. Freedom to use story figures and art materials help the children respond to God and even retell the stories to other children!
First Presbyterian Church invites you to come and observe our children's worship at any time. |
